Important Things to Know About Your Urgent Care Visit

This is generally a longer visit based on URGENT medical needs. Patients will be checked in upon arrival on a first-come, first served basis. If your condition changes while you are waiting, please inform the front desk. IV therapy may require a 1-2 hour stay.

Before you arrive at Urgent Care:

  • Please bring a list of all the medications you are currently taking.
  • Please bring the name and address of your preferred pharmacy.
  • Please be prepared to remove jackets, coats or thick sweaters. We will need to take your blood pressure during your visit.
  • Fast Track visit. This is generally a shorter visit based on SIMPLE medical needs.
  • Same Day visit. This type of pre-scheduled visit is based on ONE simple medical need, and is offered Monday through Friday. Upon check-in, you could be offered a specific appointment time where you can leave and return 15 minutes prior to that appointment time.   • COVID-19 Testing Visit for Clinical Assessment. Patients who have COVID-19 symptoms or have had close contact with someone who has tested positive may be tested. However, we can only test patients who have been exposed within an appropriate time frame. All patients requesting a COVID-19 test must have a visit with a clinician unless they are a Sansum Clinic patient having surgery outside of the greater Santa Barbara area.
  • Follow Up care. Your Urgent Care team will often recommend you follow up with your primary care provider (PCP). CenCal Health patients who have not yet been assigned to Sansum Clinic must see their CenCal assigned provider for follow up care. To establish care with a Sansum Clinic PCP,

Infants less than 6 weeks of age cannot be seen at Urgent Care and should be taken to their
pediatrician’s office or nearest emergency room.

WAIT TIMES

Wait times change continuously depending on our patient load. We strive to see patients in order of arrival, however we treat based on severity of condition. If the wait time is estimated to be more than 90 minutes, you are welcome to leave us your mobile phone number so you can depart without losing your place.

TESTING WAIT TIMES (AFTER A PROVIDER HAS B EEN SEEN)

  • Bloodwork can take 30-60 minutes.
  • X-Ray results can take 30-60 minutes.
  • CT results can take 1-3 hours.

LAB & TEST RESULTS

Patients will receive a phone call regarding follow up for any out-of-range results. Most results are available online for patients who have active MyChart accounts.

BILLING

You may be required to provide payment, co-payment or deposit at the time of your visit. An initial itemized statement will be sent to you once your insurance has processed your claim. If you do not have insurance and you pay a deposit, you will receive an itemized statement for the balance due within 30 days.

ELECTRONIC H EALTH RECORD

Urgent Care patients may activate their MyChart account to view information about their visit, review test results, request an appointment or send a message to their primary care provider (PCP).

PRESCRIPTIONS and REFILLS

Please have a list of your current medications and preferred pharmacy information readily available.

It is always best to contact your PCP for all prescription refills.  Refills are available at Urgent Care at the provider’s discretion.  Urgent Care does not refill prescriptions for controlled substances.

PETS

We love animals too, but please keep your pets at home. Leaving pets in your car during your visit with windows closed even in mild temperatures can be harmful. It is illegal to leave your pet alone in a car without sufficient ventilation, or without food or water.
